The Daily Line-up

A short stand-up at the start of every shift where teams review one value or standard and share a “wow story” of someone living it.

Why it matters

Ritz-Carlton runs a brief daily line-up across its hotels, focusing on one service standard each day and sharing stories of employees going above and beyond. Repetition keeps standards alive; stories show what they look like in practice.

How to run it

  1. Pick today’s value or standard. Rotate through them; ideally the whole organisation focuses on the same one each day.
  2. Share a wow story. A specific example of someone living that standard, ideally from another team or location.
  3. Celebrate people. Birthdays, anniversaries, quick thanks.
  4. Cover today’s essentials — and stop at 15 minutes.

Watch out for

  • Turning it into an announcements meeting
  • Using the same few stories every week

When not to use it

Teams that already have daily stand-ups — fold the value and story into that instead of adding another meeting.
