Monthly ritual

Gratitude Circle

A monthly round where each person appreciates a colleague for a specific behaviour that reflects a company value.

Why it matters

Turns abstract values into concrete, visible behaviours and makes recognition peer-to-peer rather than only top-down.

How to run it

  1. Show the values on screen or a wall.
  2. Explain the format: name a person, the specific thing they did, and which value it brought to life.
  3. Open the floor (20 min). Allow natural pauses; silence is fine.
  4. Capture the appreciations and share them with the recipients' managers afterwards.
  5. Close by naming which value showed up most — and which didn't show up at all.

Watch out for

  • Generic thanks ("great job!") — ask for the specific behaviour and its impact
  • The same people being recognised every month

When not to use it

When trust is low and recognition feels political. Start with smaller team-level rituals first.

The Five-Minute Favour

Trust is built through small, frequent acts of help far more than through rare grand gestures.

Five-Minute Favour

Each person does one small act of help a day that takes five minutes or less — an introduction, a quick review, a shared template.
