Weekly ritual

Monday Intentions

A short Monday kickoff where each person shares their single most important outcome for the week and what support they need.

Why it matters

Aligns the team on priorities without a long meeting, and makes it normal to ask for help early instead of late.

How to run it

  1. Set the frame. "What is the one outcome that would make this week a success for you?"
  2. Share in turn (8 min). Each person states their outcome in one sentence, plus any help they need.
  3. Make the asks visible. The facilitator notes every help request and who will follow up.
  4. Commit (2 min). Close by reading the asks aloud and confirming owners.
  5. Close the loop on Friday by revisiting intentions during Weekly Wins.

Watch out for

  • Listing every task — the ritual works because it forces one priority
  • Never revisiting intentions; close the loop in Weekly Wins

When not to use it

The Feedback Intervention Paradox

Feedback makes performance worse surprisingly often. Whether it was positive or negative barely matters — what matters is whether it points attention at the work or at the person.
