V2MOM Alignment

Every person writes and shares their Vision, Values, Methods, Obstacles and Measures for the year, aligned with the company’s own.

Why it matters

Marc Benioff has used the V2MOM framework at Salesforce since its founding. Because everyone’s V2MOM is visible, alignment and priorities are transparent from the CEO to individual contributors.

How to run it

  1. Leadership publishes theirs first.
  2. Each person writes five sections: Vision (what you want to achieve), Values (what matters in how you get there), Methods (the actions), Obstacles (what could get in the way), Measures (how you’ll know).
  3. Share openly so anyone can see how their work connects.
  4. Revisit quarterly and update.

Watch out for

  • Writing it and filing it — revisit it quarterly
  • Copying the company version instead of thinking it through
